A well deserved classic of magic that anyone can do but always gets a great reaction. The Six Card Repeat is a perfect opening routine where you want to get your personality across to the audience, and at the same time show them you have skill. Though truth be told the gimmick does all the work for you.

The idea of the trick is simplicity itself. Six playing cards are counted one by one as the audience watches closely. Three cards are discarded and the magician shows that he still holds six cards in his hands. This happens time and time again and it seems that the cards just never go away!

The mechanics of the trick are easy– the real trick is to provide the correct patter. Are you proving that six minus three equals six? Are you relating a story about what you saw another magician do?
